The remastered game offers significant improvements in both visual effects and performance, offering three performance options: 30 FPS, 40 FPS, and 60 FPS modes, all with dynamic resolution scaling, quality mode targets native 4K resolution, while other modes have resolutions below 1800p. The three modes achieve their target performance almost perfectly, taking full advantage of the PS5's performance.
Almost every aspect of the game has been tweaked and improved, including the terrain system, vegetation, details of artificial areas, surface rendering, lighting effects, character models and animations, especially in dialogue sequences. The audio aspect has also been upgraded, and the new version provides better surround sound and 3D audio support.
Horizon: Zero Dawn Remastered adds over 10 hours of re-recorded dialogue, motion capture, and graphics improvements to bring the game's visual effects to the same level of fidelity as its sequel Horizon: Desperate West. The game's open world is more realistic, and character details and dynamic lighting effects have been significantly improved.
In addition, the remake also supports haptic feedback and adaptive triggers for the PS5's DualSense controller, as well as ultra-wide resolution and the latest performance-enhancing technologies on PCs, such as NVIDIA DLSS 3 and AMD FSR 3.1.
For players who already own the original game, they can upgrade to a remake for $9.99. New players can purchase the game on the PlayStation Store, Steam, or Epic Game Store for $49.99.
